Card Corrections
Reassuring Speech (Event card)
The first half of this card should include the line, “When played, remove this card from the game.”
Note that this card is not removed from the game if simply discarded or if used to cancel a Hysteria card.
Re-worded for clarity, this card should read, “Roll once on the Villain’s Minion Chart and work out the result. If a Minion or Villain Attack result is rolled, place it on the board at a Random Location.”
"These Roads Aren't Safe" (Mystery card)
Re-worded for clarity, this card should read, “Roll once on the Villain’s Minion Chart and work out the result. If a Minion or Villain Attack result is rolled, the player who drew this card chooses any empty space on the board to place that Minion or Villain Attack.”

Villain and Minion Corrections and Clarifications
Vampire
Mist Form (Basic Ability) When using his Mist Form ability, anytime the Vampire takes one or more Hits, roll a die for each Hit taken. On the roll of 5 or 6, the Hit is ignored. This roll is separate from the Hero’s Fight Dice roll.
Bats (Minion Chart)
This Minion should include the line, “Once encountered, discard this Minion.”
Wolves (Minion Chart)
This Minion should include the line, “Once encountered, discard this Minion.”
Rules Clarifications and Corrections
Ally Cards
While played on a Hero, an Ally card adds its bonuses to that Hero. If an Ally has a Health Box, it effectively just adds an extra Health Box to the Hero. A wound assigned to an Ally card may be healed just like any other wounds on that Hero.
Revealing Secrets
When a Hero looks at the Secrets of a Town Elder, they may reveal any of those Secrets. Any Secrets that are ‘Reveal Immediately’ must be revealed.
If the Hero is using a card or ability to look/peek at Secrets “without revealing them”, they may not reveal any of those Secrets. In this case however, Secrets listed as ‘Reveal Immediately’ may be revealed if the Hero likes.
F.A.Q.
From Rulebook
Q1. - If you have an Item that lets you use Cunning or Spirit instead of Combat to fight, what if a Minion requires you to use something other than Combat in the first place (such as Ghost Soldiers)?
A1. - Items like Tools of Science may ONLY be used if you would actually be using Combat to fight. Against Ghost Soldiers for instance, the Hero will always have to use their Spirit.
Q2. - Some Items such as Holy Water may be discarded to automatically defeat a Minion. Can this be done before the first Fight Round?
A2. - Yes, you may discard it at any time. If discarded before a Fight Round, the Minion is defeated without rolling Fight Dice.
Q3. - If chosen as part of your Hunting Party, when does Sophie The Midwife’s special ability start to take affect? What if Sophie has the Coward Secret?
A3. - As soon as the Town Elder's Secrets are Revealed, Sophie’s ability becomes active. If a Coward, her special ability may still be used to try and cancel Mystery Cards in play before the first Fight Round when you roll to see if she runs away.
Q4. - If Lord Hanbrook takes a single Wound in a Showdown and then returns to Town, does he Heal or retain the Wound?
A4. - He Heals the Wound. You can also Heal Lord Hanbrook between Showdown Fight Rounds using anything that would Heal the Hero.
Q5. - Can Doctor Manning or Lady Hanbrook prevent Wounds done to other Town Elders in the Hunting Party?
A5. - No. They may only prevent Hits/Wounds done to the Hero.
Q6. - Can the Torch be used to re-roll a Hit done to a Town Elder in the Hunting Party?
A6. - Yes. It is meant to include a Hit to a Town Elder in your Hunting Party as well.
Q7. - Can the Rat’s Nest Minion really move?
A7. - Yes. They relocate the nest.
Q8. - With Curse of the Werewolf, does the Hero attack in the first Mystery Phase that they become a Werewolf Hero?
A8. - Yes.
Q9. - If I try to start a Showdown, but my Lair Card is Canceled, can I still Encounter the Space?
A9. - Yes.
Q10. - The Barghest Hound moves up to 2 spaces at the start of the Mystery Phase to reach the nearest Hero. What happens if it moves past another Minion? Is that Minion displaced?
A10. - No. The Barghest Hound will move over any intervening Minion to reach the Hero. Only if the Barghest Hound moves 2 spaces toward a Hero and ends in the space with another Minion will the Hound displace it.
Q11. - What if two Barghest Hounds can reach the same Hero? Does the Hero fight both?
A11. - The Barghest Hounds will move one at a time (the order is chosen by the current First Player). The Hero will have to fight the first Hound that moves before the second Hound gets to go.
Q12. - The Event Cards that add a bonus to your Skills (Strength of Spirit, Strength of Will, etc) have a Skill symbol on them but are not Remains in Play. Do these cards stay in play?
A12. - No. These cards give you a Skill Upgrade Marker and are then discarded. The symbol on the card is just meant to graphically illustrate the bonus.
Q13. - How does the timing of the Event Card Gossip and Rumors work with Accusations of Town Elders at the start of a Showdown?
A13. - Gossip and Rumors may be played to interrupt an Accusation, allowing you to look at and discard/replace a potentially evil Secret after the Accusation has been declared, but before the Secrets are revealed.
Q14. - When does it take affect if a Villain gains Wounds during a Showdown Fight Round from a Wound Upgrade marker or Evil Elder (like the Spectral Horseman’s Collect Souls ability)?
A14. - These only take affect at the end of the current Fight Round, after the Fight Dice results are applied. If the Villain is defeated in the same round as they gain the bonus, the game ends before the bonus applies.
Hero Character Abilities
Q15: Anne Marie, The School Teacher’s Lightweight ability says she may not use Guns except for the Pistol. Can she use the special ability of a Gun like the Blunderbuss or Hunting Rifle, without adding any Combat bonus it might give?
A15: No. She may not use any aspect of a Gun Item other than those with the word ‘Pistol’ in the card title.
Q16: Does Katarina, The Outlaw’s Deadly ability work even if she is not using Combat to fight with (for instance while using the Tools of Science)?
A16: Yes. Her Deadly ability works any time she is rolling Fight Dice, regardless of what Skill she is using in that Fight.
The Game Board
Q17: Does the Olde Woods connect to both the Crossroads space and the road space just above it?
A17: Yes.
Q18: The Crossroads space seems to be open-ended, leading off the board. Is this a mistake?
A18: No. The Crossroads will be used in future expansions for travelling between the main board and additional Expansion boards. The first example of this can be found in the Something Wicked™ Expansion.
Cards
Q19: Aggressive Combat gives a Villain, Minion, or Hero +2 Combat for one Fight Round. What if the Hero is using another Skill to fight with (such as Cunning with the Tools of Science)?
A19: This card only adds +2 to the Hero’s Combat Skill. If they are using another Skill to fight with, Aggressive Combat will not help them.
Q20: The card Escape says it may be used to prevent wounds to a Town Elder. Can this card be used if the Town Elder is simply ‘killed’ outright by a Mystery card?
A20: Yes. The term ‘kill’ just means that the Town Elder takes enough wounds for them to be killed (in most cases, 1 wound). This also means that the card Just a Scratch may prevent a Town Elder from being ‘killed’.
Q21: There are four Event cards that add to a Hero’s Skills (Strength of…Battle, Honor, Spirit and Will). Do these cards ‘Remain in Play’?
A21: No. They play on a Hero, giving them a +1 marker for the appropriate Skill, and are then discarded.
Q22: When KO’d, a Hero must lose D6 Items, Allies, or Investigation. Does this include Event cards that ‘Remain in Play’ on the Hero? Does it include Skill upgrade markers?
A22: No, and No. It ONLY includes any mix of Items, Allies, and Investigation.
Q23: How does the card Endurance work?
A23: It plays on any Hero (chosen by the player who drew the card). While in play on a Hero, this card simply grants the Hero one extra Health Box.
Q24: If a card that grants a Hero an extra Health Box has a wound assigned to it and the card is subsequently discarded, what happens to that wound?
A24: Any wound currently on the card would be discarded as well.
Q25: With the card “If I Could Just Reach…” can I take a Town Item from the Town Items stack?
A25: No. The Town Items stack is not a discard pile.
Q26: The Cross says, “Discard to prevent 1 wound to any Hero or Town Elder in your space.” Does this include Town Elders in my Hunting Party?
A26: Yes. It includes any Town Elder in your Hunting Party, currently with you (such as attached to you with the Hero of the People Secret), or an Elder with their marker currently on the board in the same space as your Hero. It also includes any Town Elder with another player in the same space as your Hero (attached or as part of their Hunting Party).
Q27: With the card Choices to Be Made, can I choose the ‘sacrifice one Ally’ option even if I have no Allies?
A27: No. You may only choose an option that is currently possible.
